Land Survey Party Chief

Responsibilities

  • Supervision and direction of a 2- or 3-man survey crew in performing boundary topographic, right of way and construction projects. Hydrographic survey experience a plus.
  • Must be proficient in record and note keeping, electronic data collection using total stations and RTK GPS.
  • Maintains clear and detailed field notes.
  • Coordinate with supervisory staff and be able to communicate effectively with clients and the public.
  • Oversee the maintenance and care of the survey truck and survey equipment.
  • Reviews survey data collected to ensure project is complete.
  • Follows company policies and procedures.
  • Fill out and submit required documentation each day.
  • Train and mentor crew members in use of equipment and proper field procedures.

 

Requirements

 

  • High School diploma, 5 years’ experience in land surveying with at least three years serving as a party chief or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Leica survey equipment, Hypack hydrographic software and AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus.
  • This job can be physically demanding, candidate should be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to traverse rough terrain carrying survey equipment. Be able to work in water environments, coastal marshlands and inland waterways.
  • TWIC card or meet the requirements to attain one.

 

Expectations

 

Individual will most often work as part of a team, paired with a Survey assistant(s), but occasionally will be required to perform work on their own. Individual will communicate with foreman, superintendent, and/or client to coordinate job site requirements and relay information regularly. The party chief will brief the Field Survey Manager at the end of the day’s work. The individual will plan ahead, working with the Project Manager, to anticipate and coordinate job needs. The individual will complete office tasks and projects as assigned by the Field Survey Manager and/or the Survey Department Manager. As part of our team, the party chief will be expected to communicate with office staff as needed in order to provide appropriate and timely services to our clients. We are looking for a self-motivated problem solver who works well under pressure. Personnel will be required to work overtime on occasion when the project warrants and will perform work in varying conditions including rugged terrain, dense brush, steep slopes, poison oak, and foul weather.

Schedule:

 

  • Monday through Friday
  • 6:30 to 3-5 with 30-minute break for lunch
  • Weekends and overtime may be required to keep up with workload.

Construction Inspectors

Minimum of 5 years experience. In this position you will assume resident project oversight to observe compliance in the testing and inspection field roles on various types of infrastructure projects such as levees, public utilities, roadways, etc. for local municipalities. Individual should have experience in maintaining construction schedules, reading and understanding construction documents, coordinating with design professionals, reviewing pay applications and maintaining daily logs identifying construction activities. Current construction inspection openings are within Terrebonne and Lafourche Paraishes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Office — Word, Excel, Publisher
  • Outlook — Email application
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Understand construction activities involving the construction of public utilities, roadways, and drainage systems
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and appropriate transportation
  • Awareness of safety requirements and practices

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specificataions
  • Maintain construction schedules
  • Review pay applications
  • Maintain daily logs identifying construction activities
  • Provide clear documentation of findings and results
  • Performs basic analysis of date to verify accuracy before communication and submission to the Project Manager
  • Communicates information to Project Manager and other personnel as directed by the Project Manager and/or Engineer

Louisiana Licensed Civil Engineer

Minimum 10 years experience as a licensed professional with design and construction management of municipal infrastructure experience. Potential projects will consists of new and improved roadway, storm water collection, water distribution and waste water collection projects. Duties will include preparation of study/design reports, contract document development and engineering services during construction. Applicant must possess project management, oral and written communication and computer skills.
